The Baseball Tasmania finals are underway, with the semi finals being played on Sunday 20th February 2011.

Blustery conditions, that regularly swapped from horizontal rain to brilliant sunshine greeted the players as Minor Premiers turned Wooden Spooners, the Blue Jays took on the Athletics for the right to stay alive for another week.

After a couple of close early innings, in which the Blue Jays got ahead of the Athletics, the green team blew the game wide open with a two three-run homers in a single inning and the Blue Jays were never able to mount a successful recovery.

In the other game of the day, the Red Sox have won through to their first Grand Final appearance, beating the Whitesox in a tight 14-11 game.  A long-hitting opening innings helped setup the victory for the Red Sox, who have made a tremendous turn around from last season where they were bundled out of the finals in the first week.
