Baseball Tasmania News Season Half Complete

Well, the mid-way point of the 2010/2011 season ended in a fizzle with both games being called off due to inclement weather.  The league is poised in an interesting position heading into the off-season.

The Whitesox have jumped out to the top of the table and are a game and a half ahead of the Red Sox, who have jumped back from last season's last place to post a winning record at the half-way point.  We all know what the Whitesox are capable of, but the Red Sox have developed a solid team that is getting better as the season progresses.

The Athletics are proving that last season's near Grand Final appearance was no fluke and are winning games.  With some talent expected back after the Christmas break, they are a dangerous opposition that could fly under the radar.

The Blue Jays, who were last season's minor premiers and Grand Final runner-ups have struggled with the bat and their 6-game losing streak was only halted by the cancelled game this week.  The team has struggled with player availability, but will need to solidify it's batting game if it can expect to remain competitive in the second half of the season.

All-in-all, the season to date has been competitive and played in good spirits.  We look forward to the next 9 rounds and the finals beginning in late February.
