Baseball Tasmania News Finals Time!

Finals Time

Congratulations to the Whitesox who have taken out the 2008/2009 season Minor Premiership with a 12-run better run difference than the Blue Jays, who finished on the same record.

Sunday (22nd March 2009) will see the finals being played to crown the winner for this season.

3rd Placed Playoff: Red Sox vs Athletics (11:00AM)

It's been a tough season for these two teams, but there have been some memorable highlights that they can take away. The Red Sox finished the season off strongly with an impressive victory over the minor premier Whitesox 12-4, while the Athletics have impressive victories during the season, having defeated the Blue Jays twice along the way.

Head-to-head, the Red Sox led the season 2-1 with two no-result games, but none of the games were blow-outs. It should be a very interesting final.

Grand Final: Whitesox vs Blue Jays (1:30PM)

For the third grand final in a row, the Whitesox and Blue Jays will meet for the bragging rights. Early on, the Blue Jays had a comfortable lead over the Whitesox, but a mid-season slump saw the Whitesox overtake the Jays as the league leaders but in the end only a superior run-difference proved the difference.

In the head-to-head stakes, the Blue Jays have a 3-2 advantage over the season, but that will ultimately have little effect on the confidence the two teams will take into the Grand Final. Expect to see some fireworks.

Make A Day Of It

The Masters team will be running a BBQ on the day and the funds raised will be going towards there annual trip to Geelong to represent our state. We heartily encourage everybody to stick around and watch/play in both games, bring along the family, have a snag or two and a drink and make a day of it.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.
